About Us
The South Shore 5 Public Health Alliance (SS5) is a regional coalition committed to strengthening public health services and programs.
Servicing the towns of Hanover, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, and Rockland in Massachusetts.
Together, these five communities collaborate through a Shared Services Arrangement (SSA) to deliver responsive, equitable, and sustainable public health solutions that benefit local residents and the broader South Shore region.
Formed as part of the Public Health Excellence (PHE) Grant Program, the SS5 Alliance is supported by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Office of Local and Regional Health (OLRH). The PHE grant program was created to help cities and towns build strong, inter-municipal partnerships and modernize local public health systems. SS5 aims to improve access to care, foster data-driven decision making, and promote community resilience.
Through shared staffing, coordinated programming, and resource pooling, SS5 works to:
- Strengthen emergency preparedness and response capacity
- Expand access to clinical services such as vaccine clinics and health screenings
- Promote health education and chronic disease prevention
- Support data collection, reporting, and public health assessment
- Align local efforts with statewide public health standards
Each participating municipality brings unique strengths and community values to the coalition, and together, SS5 reflects a collective commitment to advancing health equity, increasing efficiency, and delivering high-quality public health services for all.
