We're hiring! The South Shore 5 Public Health Alliance is looking for additional staff to join our regional team.
Part-Time Regional Health Inspector:
The South Shore 5 Public Health Alliance (SS5PHA) is seeking a Regional Health Inspector to support environmental health and public health initiatives across Hanover, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, and Rockland. This position plays a key role in protecting community health through inspections, enforcement of public health regulations, and collaboration with local health departments and public health nurses.
Responsibilities include conducting inspections of food establishments, residential housing, and other facilities; investigating complaints and public health concerns; enforcing state and local health codes; and supporting community health programs and emergency preparedness efforts. The role involves both fieldwork and collaboration with municipal staff, residents, and state agencies.
The ideal candidate has a background in environmental health or a related field, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently across multiple communities. Relevant certifications (or ability to obtain them) and a valid driver’s license are required.

Part-Time Regional Public Health Specialist:
The South Shore 5 Public Health Alliance (SS5PHA) is seeking a Regional Public Health Specialist to support community health initiatives across Hanover, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, and Rockland. This position plays a key role in promoting health and well-being through regional programming, health education, data-driven initiatives, and collaboration with local departments, community organizations, and residents.
Responsibilities include coordinating resources and referrals for residents impacted by issues such as substance use, mental health, hoarding, and food insecurity; leading public health education and prevention efforts; supporting grant opportunities and coalition projects; conducting health assessments; and strengthening partnerships across the five-town region.
The ideal candidate has a background in public health, social work, or a related field, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative regional environment. Experience in community health, case management, harm reduction, or trauma-informed care is preferred.

Per Diem Title 5 Sanitarian:
The South Shore 5 Public Health Alliance (SS5PHA) is seeking a Per Diem Title 5 Sanitarian to support environmental health services across Hanover, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, and Rockland. This position plays a key role in protecting community health through septic system inspections, enforcement of public health regulations, and collaboration with local health departments and regional staff.
Responsibilities include conducting Title 5 septic system inspections; performing or witnessing percolation tests and deep observation holes; reviewing reports and plans for compliance; communicating findings to property owners, contractors, and officials; investigating environmental health complaints; and supporting boards of health with sanitation, housing, and other inspectional needs.
The ideal candidate has Massachusetts certification as a Soil Evaluator and System Inspector, knowledge of Title 5 regulations, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently across multiple communities. Experience in municipal public health or environmental health is preferred.
